James Gardner serves on faculty at the University of Delaware Leadership Institute

James Gardner, Ph.D, President and CEO of CQL is serving on the 2007 faculty of the University of Delaware’s Leadership Institute. The Leadership Institute was created in response to the leadership crisis that is expected in the field of developmental disabilities. Fully two-thirds of the CEOs and executive directors of nonprofit organizations, and an equal number of the government senior managers anticipate retiring from their positions within the next decade, with little attention was paid to developing the “next generation” of leaders.

The Leadership Institute offers a select group of twenty future leaders from organizations across the United States the opportunity to come together with a faculty of national experts on progressive supports for people with disabilities. The Institute supports the development of skilled leaders who are passionate about quality, have the management and financial skills needed to run solid not-for-profit businesses and government agencies, are capable of assembling topnotch teams of caring staff, and have a solid commitment to progressive values that assure lives of meaning and impact for the individuals receiving support.

Also serving on the Institute’s faculty is Julie Petty. Julie sits on the Board of Directors for CQL and is the Chairperson of Self Advocates Becoming Empowered.

CQL is a sponsor of the Leadership Institute.
