CQL’s CEO Gardner receives Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services Pool Award

James F. Gardner, Ph.D., President and CEO of The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) recently received the Bethesda Pool award from Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services at its annual banquet in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

A worldwide leader in developmental disabilities services, Bethesda Lutheran Home and Services, Inc., awards the Pool Award annually to an individual who has made national or international contributions of service or leadership in the field. Of Dr. Gardner’s contribution, Bethesda CEO Dr. David Geske notes, “His work within the developmental disability service industry has truly made a difference in the lives of countless individuals with developmental disabilities.”

A nationally recognized leader and visionary in the field of human services, Dr. Gardner has committed his leadership since 1977 to creating organizations based on person-centered outcomes for people with disabilities. An expert in the application of quality improvement methods, he is a former faculty member of the Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland. A prolific author, he was awarded the National Leadership Award from the American Association on Mental Retardation (AAMR) in 2004.

In accepting the Pool Award, Dr. Gardner praised Bethesda for their firm grounding in sound values and for putting these values into practice.
