Van Kleeck, Albert

Albert Van Kleeck is a Senior Quality Enhancement Specialist for The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL). His background includes work in both Mental Health and Developmental Disability services, frequently working directly with people who have both an Intellectual Disability as well as Mental Illness. Beginning his career 14 years ago in New York State he has served in a variety of capacities for three private provider organizations over the past 14 years, before coming to The Council on Quality and Leadership in April of 2000.

Mr. Van Kleeck has been instrumental in initiating person-centered change both at the organizational and state systems level. His experience includes Mental Health Services; Vocational Rehabilitation; Supported Employment; Day Habilitation; and a variety of Residential Supports both ICF and Waiver. Under a grant funded through the New York State Planning Council, Mr. Van Kleeck was instrumental in developing and implementing state-wide systems change that is person-centered and outcome based.

In recognition of his work in the field, he was one of a small group chosen in New York State to serve on First Lady Hilary Clinton’s task force for Health Care Reform to study and give input on reforms and how proposed reforms might impact people with disabilities, assuring safeguards and entitlements. He has consulted with numerous organizations on quality enhancement and service innovation and development projects both nationally and internationally.
