Liz Weintraub

Liz Weintraub is a valued full-time employee of The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL). Ms. Weintraub participates in CQL’s accreditation program, provides training and technical assistance to state agencies, private providers, people with disabilities and families. Ms. Weintraub also represents CQL in a variety of national, state and local forums that address issues that concern quality of life for people with disabilities.

CQL is the organization at the forefront of the movement to improve the quality of services and supports for people with disabilities and people with mental illness. We have been leading this effort for more than three decades. Our fundamental belief is that everyone has s right to a life of dignity, opportunity and community inclusion. Our journey continues today with the daily work of establishing real connections between disabilities’ theory and practice.

Ms. Weintraub is a leader in the self-advocacy movement. On the national level, Ms. Weintraub was Vice President of the national organization, Self-Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) from 1993 to 1996. She currently is the Chair of the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council. Ms. Weintraub also sits on the board of the National Association on Developmental Disabilities Councils. She was appointed by President Clinton to the President’s Committee on Employment of Persons with Disabilities in the early nineties.

In 1998, Ms. Weintraub received the Elizabeth Monroe Boggs Award for Young Leadership. The award is given to young leaders in the field of developmental disabilities.
